Hei alle sammen,

I have been quiet, but don’t be fooled: the DEVELOP team has been active! This is the 13th email update for our project.

UPDATES:

  • We are entering our 3rd and final year of the project.
  • Our first manuscript is almost ready for submission, and I am the current bottleneck. Thanks to everybody for their valuable input.
  • The modules are ready and some hosts have accessed them. Course leaders, please let us know if you did NOT share the modules with your host community as this will impact our assessment.
  • Emma made a lovely visual demonstrating how we turned research into practice: check it out here!
  • Our plan is to have a focus group or two to (a) bring hosts together for a general discussion, and (b) get some specific follow-up input on the modules. Here, Emma and Truls can present on the DEVELOP project, we can hear from the hosts, and we can get some feedback on the modules.
  • Focus-group input, combined with useage statistics, will inform our evaluation process and based on that input, we will make any necessary modifications in the Fall.
  • We also submitted a Nordplus proposal to create a Nordic Internship Community (NICO) with colleagues in Norway, Iceland, Estonia, and Sweden.
  • And we submitted our second annual report and our proud of our year two accomplishments.
  • We are very excited about a new collaboration with Fiskerihøyskolen and the Department of Arctic and Marine Biology at UiT. Specifically, we are conducting a survey of past work-practice participants to see what they value after these experiences. We will update you on our progress.

TO DO:

Some questions that require input (ideally within the week):

  1. Course leaders, please let us know if you have not shared the modules with your host communities.
  2. Course leaders, please let us know if you are interested in pursuing a focus group at your location… this should happen prior to mid-June, and the earlier, the better.
  3. Finally, please let us know if you have gotten any feedback on the modules!

Thanks everybody, and enjoy the onset of spring!
